More MMA Battles Announced
Jan 27th
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the first Mix Master Arts DJ Battle we have decided to turn it into an event series with four more events added to the roster. The first of battle will take place Sunday April 4th at The Breakfast Club in Charlotte, NC. In addition to the Charlotte battle, two more events will be held in 2010 (one in the triangle area and one in Asheville) and a “Grand Championship” that will feature the first and second place winners from each area competing for the title of “Grand Champion” at the end of the year back at Greene St in Greensboro.
If you would like to compete in any of the battles or sponsor any of these events please contact DJSK at djsk101[at]gmail.com. We are excited to provide a forum for new and experienced DJs to showcase their talents and engage in a little friendly competition.
Once again, thank you all for the tremendous amount of support at our first event and we are looking forward to the competitions to come!

Help 4 Haiti Benefit Party Recap
Jan 17th
First, we would like to thank everyone that came to the help 4 haiti benefit at five star. Thanks to your donations we raised $1000 that was donated to Red Cross for their haiti relief. This would not have been possible without you and your generosity! We would also like to thank you for being such a great crowd and partying to pretty much everything we played!
Thanks to Five Star for hosting the event and also chipping in to round off the donation to an even thousand bucks. If you’re looking to throw an event in Raleigh, this is one of the most unique places to do it in my opinion.
Thanks to DJ SPCLGST for rocking out with Forge on the turntables all night.
Thanks to Darany for the awesome flyer design
Thanks to Chris Charles of Creative Silence for covering the event and shooting all the awesome photos in the event gallery below. Make sure you visit his page and contact him for any photography needs.
As you can see, it took many talented and creative people to help us bring this event together in a 48 hour time frame. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to do it and we are truly grateful to have them as friends!
When we took the check to red cross we met this man, Alex Alexis, who is originally from Haiti but lives here now and is a registered nurse. He is soon to be deployed to the USS Comfort which is currently positioned near Haiti to provide relief. He will be working as a French and Creole translator for at least the next month. Your contributions at the party make efforts like this by Alex possible. He and the rest of Red Cross in Raleigh are very thankful for you for the donations!
Photos from the event are below, feel free to save any of them if you find yourself. We suggest hitting the “view with piclens” option to view them fullscreen and slideshow style.
Thank you again.
Relief : Help 4 Haiti benefit party @ Five Star
Jan 14th
By now I’m sure you’ve heard, seen, and read about the destruction that Haiti has seen this week due to a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. It’s easy to feel like it’s hard to help people that are so far away, but you can make a difference because every small amount helps.
This Friday, DJ SPCLGST and I will be throwing a benefit party for Haiti Relief at Five Star in Raleigh. Everything we make from the door will be donated to the red cross relief effort. The minimum donation for entry is $5 but that isn’t the maximum, please contribute as much as you’d like.
This is your chance to enjoy yourself while still contributing to the cause. We hope Raleigh (and the triangle) will turn out for Haiti.
If you can’t make it, please find a way to donate supplies or money to an organization. The people of Haiti need all they help they can get right now.
Special thanks to Darany for the excellent flyer design, especially in such a short time frame
See you tomorrow!
- Forge
